State Street Boxing is a haven for young athletes.

Teaching not just boxing, but resilience, discipline, and purpose.
Former boxing champion David Mario Ramos does more than train fighters—he builds futures. At State Street Boxing Gym, he’s not just a coach; he’s a mentor, father figure, and counselor, guiding young athletes both in and out of the ring. His goal isn’t just to sharpen their skills but to keep them focused, disciplined, and away from the trouble that can so easily derail a promising future.
Filming at the gym, I saw firsthand how Ramos invests in his fighters. Whether working the mitts with a young hopeful or offering tough love to a boxer on the edge of a bad decision, his influence extends far beyond the sport. This project wasn’t just about documenting a gym—it was about capturing the power of mentorship and the role boxing plays in shaping lives.
