How Defining Yourself Can Set Your Brand Apart
When Aspen set out to launch Equanimity Ventures, they were not just starting a business; they were redefining their personal identity. This process would require special care and commitment building an environment where Aspen could feel safe being their wonderful and authentic self.
As a former elite athlete with a wealth of experience and accomplishments, they needed a branding video that would introduce them with energy, establish credibility, and create an emotional connection with their audience. Translating a lifetime of experience and achievements into a compelling, digestible story required more than just traditional filmmaking, we had to be creative and courageous with our visual approach.
Working closely with an incredible team, I helped craft a branding video that seamlessly blended live-action and motion graphics to tell Aspen’s story in a way that felt dynamic, personal, and undeniably them.

“John, you are like a weighted blanket in human form. You have this incredibly calming presence that makes people feel at ease in front of the camera, which is huge. It’s more than just amplifying someone’s story—you help them embody it so they can share it confidently.”

First, a high-energy soccer dribbling sequence set the tone, immediately showcasing Aspen’s passion and drive. While soccer does not play any part in Aspen's current business venture, it is an aspect of their life that shows commitment to working hard for something they believe in. Starting with a memorable scene like this helps them stand out in a crowded business environment.

Then, to dive into Aspens personal journey, we recreated an defining childhood experience, watching Joe Sakic win the Stanley Cup. With creative graphics, we transported viewers back in time, allowing them to experience the awe and ambition that fueled Aspen’s drive.

Finally, rather than simply listing their many accomplishments, I designed a fully animated sequence mapping out aspens career achievements. This graphic representation helped showcase their credibility without overwhelming the audience's engagement with their story.

By combining cinematic storytelling with custom-designed graphics, we created a brand film that not only launched Aspen’s company but also cemented their new identity in a way that was bold, authentic, and unforgettable.
